We're on the countdown to sausage and gluhwein time...
The dates for the big return of Manchester's Christmas Markets have finally been confirmed. And the good news for fans of the annual festive extravaganza is that it's not too long to wait.
There had been talk that Piccadilly Gardens will NOT be used as the main hub of the Christmas Markets this year, after last year's event left the "Winter Gardens" resembling a "mud bath". Council bosses were instead urgently looking at other options, including whether St Peter's Square could be used, for the 2023 return.
What we do know is that Cathedral Gardens will once again host the festive ice rink as well as a range of wooden stalls. The ice rink itself will also stay a little longer than the main Christmas Markets, running every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day up until December 31. Councillor Pat Karney, Manchester City Council's Christmas spokesperson, said: "With the last rays of summer sun now fading fast, it's time to track down the tinsel and get ready for Manchester's favourite time of the year.
Cathedral Gardens will also once again play host to the Ice Rink with food and drink stalls in Cathedral Gardens alongside it. The rink will open in time for the school October holidays, so will be opening from Thursday, October 26 right through to Sunday December 31.
