Frankie Montas looked the part of a No. 1 starter Wednesday night in a 4-2 road win over the Tampa Bay Rays.Montas got all the support he would need on a three-run home run by Sean Murphy in the third inning against Tampa Bay starter and loser Shane McClanahan as the A’s evened their record to 3-3 and dropped the Rays to 4-2.
Trivino retired the first two outs in the ninth on ground balls before giving up a walk and a hit. He retired Wander Franco on foul pop to third to end the game. Snead struck out pinch-hitter Harold Ramirez before giving up a bloop single to center to Francisco Mejia to score Diaz. Snead then retired Brandon Lowe on a grounder to end the inning.
