Vicky Donald, 38, has welcomed new powers that give headteachers the option to ban phones in schools but has argued staff will struggle to reinforce the measures.
The mum of a girl who was attacked on a bus on her way home from school has told how she fears a ban on phones will put additional pressure on "overstretched" teaching staff.
Since her assault, Vickly has tirelessly called on ministers to remove mobiles from schools as part of the Record's Our Kids ... Our Future campaign, which has highlighted the use of phones in a series of attacks on children across Scotland. "They're managing violence, overspilling classrooms and difficult behaviours. Teachers don't have the right support in place to deal with the after-effects when mobile phones are removed."
Vicky said: "A ban is obviously essential for schools - we've already established that youths will always pull their phones out for 'likes'. If they've got a phone in their hand, they're going to record the situation in front of them.
