Cleveland Metroparks completed over a mile of all purpose trail at the southern portion of Euclid Creek Reservation, moving one step closer to having a trail connection between the inland and lakefront sections of the park.

EUCLID, Ohio -- There’s a new trail section on the East Side that’s part of a larger vision for connecting Cuyahoga County and beyond. The Euclid Creek Greenway will one day provide residents of Cleveland, Euclid, South Euclid and Richmond Heights with cycling and pedestrian access to parks along Lake Erie.

The northern portion includes Euclid Beach Park, Villa Angela Park and Wildwood Park along Lake Erie. The southern portion is a beautiful creekside reservation with trails and picnic areas. A detail of a Cleveland Metroparks map shows the park agency's intention to extend the Euclid Creek Greenway north from the southern portion of its Euclid Creek Reservation to the parks in the northern portion of the reservation along Lake Erie in Cleveland's Collinwood neighborhood. At a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, the second phase of the Euclid Creek Greenway was opened to the public at the former site of Euclid Central Middle School.

Removing the guesswork for cyclists, the Euclid Creek Greenway will most likely utilize a combination of off-street trail and bike lanes on city streets to make the 2-mile connection to Wildwood, Villa Angela and Euclid Beach Parks. A further phase of the trail from the former middle school site on Chardon Road to St. Clair Avenue has been funded.
