Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Gary Godden is deploying 187 officers to neighbourhood roles, aiming to reduce anti-social behaviour. Ashfield, a particular concern for recent ASB issues, will receive increased resources with dedicated police personnel.
A Nottinghamshire police boss says neighbourhood officers will start "attacking" anti-social behaviour in Ashfield as he declared the return of bobbies on the beat. Gary Godden , Nottinghamshire's police and crime commissioner , is preparing to roll out a new strategy from October which will see 187 officers across the county being redeployed to neighbourhood police roles.
"That is coming back to Nottinghamshire." Mr Godden said the new model should reduce anti-social behaviour across Nottinghamshire and that he wants to start seeing results within the next six months. Businesses and residents in Sutton-in-Ashfield previously spoke to Nottinghamshire Live about issues including smashed shop windows and street drinking. The area's anti-social behaviour was raised at a meeting on Monday where Mr Godden was discussing his new neighbourhood policing model.
"At the moment, we're suffering from off-road motorbikes, obstruction of the highways, speeding cars. There are so many little issues that need addressing because what happens to a person who gets away with a little issue? It becomes a bigger one the next time."
