Trio of little heroes have fun at XSite Braehead and get kitted out for the big night

It was a magical day to remember for some of the nation’s bravest children as Scotland’s Little Champions enjoyed a fun-filled trip to Braehead. Courageous trio Dayn Montgomery, eight, Hanlon Stevenson, six, and Quinn Young, 11, were treated to a VIP day out which saw them suited and booted and showered with gifts and treats.

Quinn, from Culloden, Invernesshire, who picked out a pretty aquamarine dress and sparkly shoes for the ceremony with the help of the Next sales manager Lara McGarry and sales consultant Fiona Turner, was delighted with her afternoon of fun, especially her time bowling with the other children. Last year, Quinn became one of the youngest people to conquer all 282 Munros in Scotland. She began the challenge with her dad Ian when she was just four years old and she climbed the highest Munro - Ben Nevis - shortly before turning five.

The youngster, from Whins of Milton, Stirlingshire, said: “I like my suit as it makes me look like a big boy. The bowling was fun but my favourite part was Pizza Express. I ate lots of pizza and I got a huge sundae which I was allowed to eat even though it was Saturday. I think the ceremony will be fun and my mum will cry.”

Lisa said: “It’s just Hanlon and me at home and I taught him from an early age how to phone the ambulance if I got sick. He saved my life that day and I’m confident he would do it again. He’s a great wee kid and it’s lovely that his bravery is being recognised.” In April he took part in the Hillbillies Motor Cycle Club’s Easter Egg Run just weeks after having open heart surgery, helping to raise £3807 for the charity.
