Paul Ledwith denied sexual assault but was found guilty following a trial
A police officer sexually assaulted two women in Liverpool city centre. Paul Ledwith, 49, denied sexual assault but was found guilty following a trial at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday, September 19. Ledwith, who was a serving officer with Merseyside Police at the time of the offences, has since been dismissed from the force.
He was found guilty of three offences of sexual touching in Liverpool city centre in July and August 2020. At the conclusion of the police misconduct hearing, the Legally Qualified Chair of the panel Mr Ince determined that the publication of the outcome was not to be published until the conclusion of Former Constable Ledwith’s associated criminal trial, so as to not prejudice the proceedings matters. The criminal trial has now concluded and Ledwith is due to be sentenced on October 16.
