A red flag warning, indicating conditions are ripe for fires, is in effect for the entire state on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The state forest fire service says the fire danger in New Jersey on Tuesday is “very high” — the highest fire danger category before “extreme.”
The hazy conditions are partially due to the wildfires still burning in Canada. Highs will climb into the upper 70s to low 80s. Lows tonight will fall into the upper 40s and low 50s, five to 10 degrees below normal for early June. The rest of the week should be mainly dry and sunny with highs in the 70s. There are slight chances of rain on Thursday and Friday.
The EPA says moderate air quality is considered acceptable, but “pollution levels in this range may pose a moderate health concern for a very small number of individuals. People who are unusually sensitive to ozone or particle pollution may experience respiratory symptoms.”
