Everton Park and Park Road were deemed financially unviable by Liverpool Council
An education trust and gymnastics foundation have expressed interest in taking over two Liverpool leisure centres. Last November it was confirmed the city council would look to take Everton Park and Park Road Lifestyles sites off its books as they were no longer deemed financially viable. Ahead of an extraordinary meeting on the future of both locations, Liverpool Council has confirmed two expressions of interest have been received for the leisure centres by external organisations.
The City of Liverpool Gymnastics Foundation is already based at Park Road and is one of Britain’s most successful gymnastics clubs. St Joseph Multi Academy Trust is responsible for Notre Dame Catholic Academy, which is located next to Everton Park Lifestyles and pupils utilise the centre. Liverpool Council said it has been “working closely” with both parties to complete an assurance and due diligence process, before a final decision on the future of both leisure centres is made.
