Renovations to the Mustangs of Las Colinas Museum are complete.

Renovations to the Mustangs of Las Colinas Museum are complete, and Irving officials will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday at 10:30 a.m., city officials said in a press release. The renovations to the museum are part of a $7.8 million facelift of Irving’s Williams Square Plaza.
The museum chronicles the history of Las Colinas and Irving, as well as the landmark Mustangs of Las Colinas sculpture. Created by African wildlife artist Robert Glen, the nine bronze mustangs were first dedicated on Sept. 25, 1984 as the centerpiece of Williams Square Plaza.Upgrades to the plaza include more trees and landscaping, movable tables, chairs, a multipurpose patio, improved lighting and fountain upgrades.
City leaders have said they hope to use the space for more public gatherings such as orchestra concerts, Christmas tree lightings and festivals. The original plaza, with its acres of granite, was built at a time when monumental building projects were more favored than people-friendly spaces.. “They don’t look at it as this big monument you drive up to and just take a picture. They want a great plaza to play with their kids and really enjoy everything that is there.”Event parking is $5 in the East Tower Garage at Williams Square.
