CABO CAÑAVERAL, Florida, EE.UU.
— Los científicos revelaron el martes las primeras imágenes tomadas por el telescopio espacial europeo Euclid, una destellante y asombrosa colección de galaxias demasiado numerosa para ser contada. Las fotos fueron reveladas por la Agencia Espacial Europea, cuatro meses después de que el telescopio fue lanzado desde Cabo Cañaveral.
“Deslumbrante”, expresó la directora científica de la agencia espacial, Carole Mundell, al mostrar la foto del núcleo de las galaxias, en una pantalla gigante en centro de control de la agencia en Alemania. Los instrumentos de Euclid son capaces de percibir hasta las galaxias más pequeñas, que hasta ahora eran demasiado tenues como para ser observadas.
