The Glasgow Subway train broke down between the Kelvinhall and St George's Cross stations on Saturday, July 8 leaving passengers to walk the underground tunnel.
A family were forced to walk through Glasgow's underground subway tunnels in darkness after a train broke down.
Ben Kavanagh was on board the broken down train with his wife Donna and their two daughters Emma, 12, and Arya, 9, for an hour before a tannoy alert ordered passengers to climb out. Ben, 36, told the Record: "We were on our way to meet my mum for lunch when the train came to a halt suddenly."Eventually we were told over the tannoy to evacuate the carriage. I had to coax my youngest down off the train ladder because she was scared.
"We were right next to another tunnel and the trains passing through were deafeningly noisy. It was quite scary.Top news stories today Ben says a staff member from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport failed to appear until they reached the next station."If someone had any sort of health issue while they were down there it would have been a real issue."There needs to be a better contingency plan than this.
