Second-alarm fire chars Chollas Creek restaurant [Breaking]
A second-alarm fire tore through a restaurant in the community of Chollas Creek Friday morning, a San Diego fire official said.
Firefighters arrived just after 7:30 a.m. and found heavy smoke and flames were coming from the eatery on University Avenue near 52nd Street, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Battalion Chief Dave Seneviratne told OnScene TV. Fire crews called for additional assistance and kept the fire from spreading to nearby businesses, the battalion chief said.No one was inside the restaurant at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, according to Seneviratne. It’s unclear whether the business was operation — it appeared empty in video footage of the incident.
