Why did you choose to bring these three cards to Arena? Was it because they fit the Amonkhet theming, because they fit the Amonkhet gameplay, or both?For each card in the set from outside original Amonkhet that we were looking to add to Amonkhet Remastered, we evaluated it on a combination of good gameplay in Limited, on its match to the Amonkhet world, and its potential to impact Constructed decks in MTG Arena.
Perilous Vault was originally in Magic Core Set 2015 with art and flavor text that spoke towards Zendikar. So here was an opportunity to look at how a Perilous Vault would be represented on Amonkhet. The new illustration really captures the feel of god-sized sarcophagi as they are beginning to crack open to unleash disaster.
Sphinx's Revelation was a powerful game ender in Standard when released in Return to Ravnica. The swing of cards and life could pull you out of the most unwinnable situations. We felt it was a good fit to be added to Amonkhet Remastered as we have been wanting to bring Pioneer cards to MTG Arena, and it has already seen some constructed play in Pioneer, plus it could be a good fit for Historic control decks as an endgame finisher.
We knew Lord of Extinction is a fan favorite card and it already having a cool creative treatment from the Invocation made this a great place to bring it to Arena where it could be a great build-around card and for casual constructed decks. Lord of Extinction is really popular in Commander and Sphinx's Revelation was a major player in Standard.
