The Englishman has not played for Michael Beale's side since the derby defeat to Celtic.
Crocked Todd Cantwell has opened up on his Rangers injury layoff on social media as the playmaker edges closer to a first-team return.
The Englishman was a positive performer for Michael Beale's side this season, playing eight out of nine games for Rangers before his run in the team was derailed by a knee injury. His last was against the Celtic, seeing out the 90 minutes but had to go off the pitch on the 81st minute for treatment after a challenge with Daizen Maeda. However, after the full-time whistle the fitness assessment saw Cantwell sidelined.
Beale predicted an absence of "three or four games" for the key player when he spoke about the layoff which could see the 25-year-old return to training in time for Saturday's clash with Aberdeen or the Europa League group stage showdown with Aris Limassol next week. It would be a welcome return for the Light Blues with Rabbi Matondo the latest star to land in the Auchenhowie treatment room.
Tom Lawrence, Kieran Dowell and Nicolas Raskin are also missing from the midfielder engine room. And Cantwell has conceded he is frustrated to be missing the action ahead of the Viaplay Cup showdown with Livingston. Ahead of the showdown at Ibrox, he posted a snap of himself playing earlier this season. It was captioned on his Instagram story: "Missing it."
