A paedophile twice convicted of abuse died while a prisoner after falling ill in his cell. Colin Cambray, who was 55, received an extended sentence of nine years in prison in October, 2020, for sexual offences.
He made her watch pornography and perform a sex act on him before he touched her inappropriately, Bolton Crown Court was told. Then, on another occasion, former coach company worker Cambray touched the girl under a blanket.A now published report by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman , which investigates deaths in custody, reveals he died on January 19 this year while a prisoner at HMP Haverigg in Cumbria.
It's understood he fell ill in his cell and passed away in hospital. "The clinical reviewer concluded that the clinical care Mr Cambray received at Haverigg was of a good standard and equivalent to that which he could have expected to receive in the community," says the report. "The PPO investigator investigated the non-clinical issues relating to Mr Cambray's care. We did not find any significant non-clinical issues of concern related to his death and we make no recommendations."
