Council continues support for CVS Falkirk as communities continue to sign up to take over buildings
The organisation that supports volunteers and charities across Falkirk has worked with more than 70 community groups to explore taking over council-owned buildings. But members of Falkirk Council ' s Scrutiny Committee heard today that despite efforts, some of the council's buildings will undoubtedly close as a result of the council's strategic property review.
"It's not an easy process for community groups to switch from opening their doors and delivering activities to then become building managers and building owners." He said: "The challenge is how do we replace those assets to make sure that groups have the opportunity to continue to meet and that the groups that already exist in those areas continue to operate?
CVS has also been very keen to focus more on rural communities around Falkirk and has secured short-term project funding from Foundation Scotland. This has enabled it to offer support to communities including Limerigg, Slamannan, Bonnybridge, Bo'ness and Denny and district. However, this funding will end in March 2025.
