Adam Driver's 65 borrows elements from lots of genres, but just because it's got dinosaurs in it, doesn't mean it compares to one obvious movie.

Adam Driver's 65 draws inspiration from several genres to deliver a taut sci-fi adventure, but because of its plot, it's being compared to the wrong movie. It begins with Commander Mills , the pilot of a spaceship on a multi-year exploratory mission, who must suddenly make an emergency landing when his vessel comes in contact with an asteroid belt.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY As the pair make their way through inhospitable terrain, 65 continues some Jurassic World trends with ferocious dinosaurs and giant insects, and if that weren't enough, a meteor headed for this ancient Earth threatens to wipe out all life.

In Aliens, Ripley battles a xenomorph hive that takes over a colony and comes in contact with an orphan girl named Newt who, like Koa, speaks mostly in mime to be understood. Like a reverse-gender Ripley, Mills becomes Koa's protector as well, and they work through their language barrier in a way that is both frustrating and poignant for its authenticity.

65 Is Better Than Another Alien Or Jurassic Park Sequel 65 is important because it doesn't replicate either Alien or Jurassic Park at the expense of its own originality, and offers something different at a time when big-budget blockbusters and sequels overcrowd the cinema landscape. It might borrow the nuanced approach to horror in these franchises, but it's better than another sequel that dilutes its material after many less-compelling installments.

Jurassic World Dominion had even worse reviews than 65 upon its release, proving that just because a movie has dinosaurs and is from a well-established IP, doesn't mean it's going to be successful. If a movie like Cocaine Bear or M3GAN is interesting enough, fans will support it because it offers something different from the same old milieu, and 65 operates within the same set of principles.
