A seven-year battle to have a whistleblower lawsuit against the New York Waterway commuter ferry business heard ended when a federal court judge dismissed the final count on a technicality. The lawsuit by two former employees, Ivan Torres and Rafi Khatchikian, was initially filed in 2016 and amended in 2020. The suit claimed that New York Waterway, which operates a fleet ferries from Hudson County locations to Manhattan, violated the federal Clean Water Act by routinely dumping raw sewage, boat fuel, oil and other materials into New Jersey and New York waterways.If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
