Team GB pay homage to Windrush generation
To mark 75th anniversary of Windrush, Team GB has partnered with spoken word artist, Raymond Antrobus to create and voice a special poem
INSPIRED: Team GB has partnered with spoken word artist, Raymond Antrobus, MBE, to create and voice a special Team GB inspired poemanniversary of Windrush Team GB has partnered with spoken word artist, Raymond Antrobus, MBE, to create and voice a special Team GB inspired poem. The poem,, showcases and celebrates Team GB’s historical links – through their athletes – to Windrush and the West Indies.
Alongside Olympic archive footage, the video is brought to life by Tokyo 2020 Olympic BMX medallist Kye Whyte, whose family heritage is from the West Indies and ventured to England as part of the Windrush generational migration, and taekwondo Paris 2024 hopeful Aaliyah Powell, whose family heritage is from Jamaica.
