PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating a deadly shooting overnight after a woman was found dead outside of a vehicle near 27th Avenue and McDowell Road.
She was a passenger in a vehicle, which was also occupied by a man and five children, that had been shot at near 32nd Avenue and McDowell Road. No one else in the vehicle was injured.Police obtained a search warrant for a house where the suspects were last seen. At the house, they located two adult men and two teenagers. They detained all four but one of the men has since been released.
According to police documents, the people in the victim's vehicle were reportedly picking up a 16-year-old from a house when multiple shots were fired at them. The suspects reportedly told police they shot at the vehicle “after they thought they heard the sound of gunfire and had received phone calls from a person they believed had robbed them” previously and was threatening to come to their house.
