Susan Stedman woke up to find the hedgehog has eaten her cats' food, climbed the stairs and sniffed around much of her home
A hooligan hedgehog was caught red-handed rifling through clothes in a startled woman's bedroom – after it snuck in, scoffed the cats' dinner and hauled itself up a 13-step flight of stairs.
The work-based learning manager, who 'couldn't believe her eyes', took photos of the 'cheeky' invader as proof to show 54-year-old husband Stuart Stedman the next day. "If you stir and the cats know you're awake then that's it, they're in your face so I didn't stir. I must have dozed off again and when I woke up I thought the noise didn't sound like a cat.
"I've been having vivid dreams of late and I thought that I can't possibly see a hedgehog in my bedroom. I turned my light off and on again to check. "I think it's a bit of payback because, if you think about it, human beings have been encroaching on hedgehogs' property for decades. It's about time they encroached on ours."
"He'd gone through the hallway and I hadn't noticed he'd left a deposit in the downstairs toilet until the next afternoon when I'd noticed the bottles in there had been tipped over.
