The rethink emerged after the Labour-led council faced anger over the drastic proposals.
North Lanarkshire council leader Jim Logue abandoned the proposals after a massive backlash.
However, local people were furious about the closures and eighteen senior Labour figures protested to Logue.“The SNP has refused to offer a single penny more to support these facilities despite receiving £6 million to support swimming pools from the UK Government. “It remains the case that North Lanarkshire Council will face difficult budget decisions as a result of failure of the SNP to properly resource local government.”
