less than an hour agoA tropical storm warning has been issued for a part of the Florida Panhandle.Fred has reformed back into a tropical storm over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and is headed for a landfall on the northern Gulf Coast early this week, where it will bring heavy rain and gusty winds. A tropical storm warning has now been issued for a part of the Florida Panhandle.
Fred is expected to make landfall in the western Florida Panhandle Monday evening into early Tuesday. Bands of rain and gusty winds will precede that landfall.Forecast ImpactsHeavy rainfall is likely to be the main impact that Fred will bring to the northern Gulf Coast and other areas farther inland over the Southeast. Rainfall in locations farther inland will be enhanced by a frontal boundary in place over the region.-4 to 8 inches in the Florida Big Bend and Panhandle regions.
The NHC predicts a storm surge of 2 to 4 feet above normal tide levels if the peak surge arrives at the time of high tide on the Florida Panhandle, from Indian Pass to Steinhatchee River. A storm surge warning is in effect along this stretch of the coastline.High tide is generally in the morning hours of Monday and Tuesday for this general region.
